Jane Snowdon, age 102, died in Ellington on March 17. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Anna Sheldon Allen and Daniel Allen. She and her husband, Arthur E. Snowdon (deceased) were married in Pittsburgh and spent time in Chicago and Minneapolis before moving to Bristol more than 70 years ago. She lived in Bristol most of her life and was an active volunteer in many organizations. She was a Corporator of Bristol Hospital where she volunteered for more than 30 years as the manager of the Bristol Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop. She was the co-founder and first president of the Keystone Auxiliary of the Bristol Boys and Girls Clubs. She was a devoted member of the Prospect United Methodist church where she served on many committees as well as being the President of the Trustees. She also volunteered in the Well-Child Clinic of the Bristol Visiting Nurse Association for many years. She leaves a daughter Sharon A. Smith and her husband Peter of Narragansett, RI, three sons Scott A. Snowdon and his wife Diane of Amherst, NH, Douglas A. Snowdon and his wife Donna of Stafford Springs, CT and Arthur R. Snowdon and his wife Aurie of Tinton Falls, NJ as well as six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral will be private and there are no calling hours. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Book of Remembrance of the Prospect United Methodist Church in Bristol, CT.
