Raymond J. Bak, 95, of Bristol, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023. He was born on September 12,1927 in Middletown to the late Mary Niedziela and Joseph Bak. He graduated from Middletown High School class of 1945 and served as part of the greatest generation, in World War 2, where he was stationed in the Army in Yokohama, Japan. Before his retirement he worked for General Motors as a foreman at the New Departure-Hyatt factory in Bristol, yet his greatest achievement was marrying the love of his life, Barbara, and raising their family together. His memory will live on in the stories and life lessons he loved to share about his youth and time in Japan. He was a passionate man who loved to share his hearty laughter with family and friends, socializing over weekly Sunday dinners and holidays, yet he was also a humble and spiritual man, eternally grateful to God for the blessings of love and family that he had been graced with. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara (Zelek) Bak, as well as 5 siblings - Stephanie Balamucki, Stanley Bak, John Bak, Celia Tobias and Jane Pavelka. He is survived by a brother, Edward Bak of East Hartford, a sister, Josephine Tenerowicz of Rocky Hill, four children - Michael Bak and his wife Linda of Bristol, Daniel Bak of Bristol, Diane Muzzarelli and her husband, Paolo of Windsor and Mariane Hart and her husband Joseph of Hebron, 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 30, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 33 Queen Street, Bristol. Calling hours are Sunday, January 29, 2023 between the hours of 4PM and 7PM at DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave, Bristol.
