Cynthia A. Hawk, 75, of New Britain, past away Monday, July 1, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 21, 1944 in Bristol and was a daughter of the late Adolf Hargrove and Myrtis (Brown) Hargrove Payne. She was employed at the former New Departure-Hyatt, Div. of General Motors and then from the State of Conn., Dept. of Developmental Services, from where she retired. She was an active member of Redeemers AME Zion Church, Plainville where she was a member of the Jubilee Choir and the Outreach Missionary. She is survived by two daughters, Kim M. Hawk of Bristol, CT, and Lisa R. Hawk of Hamilton, Ohio., a brother, Gene Hargrove of Bridgeport, three grandchildren, Javan C. Del Valle of Bristol, Eric E. Alvarez, Jr. and Paris L. Wilson both of Hamilton, Ohio, two great grandchildren, Jillian Floyd and Juelz A. Alvarez, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Cynthia was predeceased by her two sisters, Jean Mack who passed away on June 9, 2019 and Vernice Colquit and a brother, Leon “Nathan” Villard. Cynthia’s funeral will be held on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 11:00am in Redeemers AME Zion Church, 110 Whiting St., Plainville. Relatives and friends may visit one hour before the service from 10-11am. DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, is entrusted with the arrangements.
