James T. Parker, 81, husband of Maureen (Gay) Parker of Bristol passed away peacefully on March 12 at the Bristol Hospital surrounded by his loving family. James was born in Bristol on October 13, 1928, son of the late Myron and Florence (Carey) Parker. In 1947 he graduated from Bristol High School and went on to serve in the Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the U.S.S. Roosevelt. James, known better as Jimmy, worked as a salesman for the Bristol Auto Arcade (Good Year) for 30 years, followed by MGB and Wolcott Tire Companies for the next 20 years. In addition to his wife, he was survived by two sons, a daughter, a daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren - Kim M. and Christine B. Parker of East Hampton, Tara J. Parker of Bristol, Carey T. Parker of Bristol, and grandsons James T. Parker and Joesph D. Parker. He was survived by two sisters, Catherine Angels and MaryLou Pratt, a brother William Parker, and sister-in-law Maureen Parker, all of Bristol. Jimmy was predeceased by his first wife, Betty (Kieffer) Parker, two brothers, Kenneth and David Parker, a sister June Cranford, a sister-in-law Barbara Parker, and brother-in-law Bob Pratt. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that he held close to his heart.
With his finesse of the English language, unique style, and masterful delivery, he entertained all with his Irish wit and humor. He never found a reason not to laugh. Aside from his family and constant tom foolery, Jimmy enjoyed spending time at his camp site, playing cards, doing cross word puzzles, following the Red Sox, and spending time with his friends at the American Legion. The funeral will be held Wednesday, 11am at DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Calling hours will be held Tuesday evening from 5-8pm at the funeral home.
In his memory, donations can be made to the Veterans Home and Hospital, 287 West St, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.

It was so sad to read, that Jim had passed. He worked with my Dad
at Bristol Auto Arcade, as a salesman. Jim was alot of fun, when he came to our house. He never got my name right, I was always "Bud's Boy". I worked in the recap shop, and he would stop by and say " How many mold's did you blow up today, your father's not going to be happy. He was always happy and always kidding around. My Dad and Jim where great friends. When my Dad took ill, Jim always stopped by and checked on him. I too will miss you, Jim. You were a great friend to my DAD!! Peace be with you, God Bless.

Jimmy went to grammar and high school with both my late husband, Dick, and myself. But Himmy and Dick were friends who were very close all those years and I'm sure he would want to say how sorry he was to hear of Jimmy's passing, but remembering too the fun they had drag racing, which in those days was probably forty miles an hour, down West Street in Sothington, playing cards and getting into whatever crazy mischief they could find together. They were always together and were a perfect pair for finding mischief to get into. Jimmy's mom and dad were friends of my parents for years even living in the same house on Middle Street where I was born. What stands out most in my mind about Jimmy is the caption under his picture in the Bristol High yearbook: "I am not lazy; it's just that I need my twenty-four hours' sleep every might.
My condolences to his wife, whom I never met, to Kim who was and probably still is a friend of my son Richard, and to Billy, Kay and Mary Lou. Jim wass a good friend and I will always remember him, Perhaps he and Dick will meet again; at least I believe they will.

trying to put into words the sadness in my heart is hard.
Jimmy was a part of our extended family, and spent many hours telling us stories and jokes at my moms kithen table. His presence and addictive happiness will be sadly missed. My deepest sympathy to all who loved him.
Im sure he Frank and my Mom are up to no good already.
