Frances D. Jabs

Jabs, Frances “Fran” (Demma), 92, of Bristol, widow of Arthur G. Jabs, died Monday, December 14, 2009 at Bristol Hospital.  She was born August 17, 1917 in Bristol, and was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mae (Kloss) Demma.  She was a claims manager at CV Mason & Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1998.  she also worked for Drs. Nicholas Seguljic and Oscar Reiss for 22 years as a night nurse.  She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild.  Fran was a graduate of Columbia University with an associate degree in Dental Hygiene and also graduated from Columbus Hospital as a nurse.  She was a member of the Friends of the Bristol Senior Center, a past president of the Bristol Medical and Dental Association and spent 15 years in Scouting with the Cub Scouts, Brownies and Girl Scouts.  She leaves a daughter Jennifer Jabs of Bristol, two sons and a daughter-in-law Arthur Jabs and David and Barbara Jabs all of Bristol, Kathy Barnum of Bristol, who was like a second daughter to her; four grandsons, Jonathan, Christopher, Robert and Steven Jabs, five great grandchildren, Zoe, Bodie, Dylan, Stephanie and Alyssa Jabs, and several nieces and nephews.  The funeral will be held Thursday, 9am from DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, followed by a mass at 10am in St. Joseph Church, Bristol.  Burial will follow in St., Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.  Calling hours will be held Wednesday evening from 5-8pm at the funeral home.  Donations may be made to St. Joseph Church, 149 Goodwin St., Bristol, CT 06010
